SPOTLIGHT AWARD INFORMATION: The Spotlight Award honors outstanding work for a total transit marketing campaign. The award recognizes a total mixed-media marketing campaign that shows a unifying strategy, purpose or theme. This is typically an awareness building or educational campaign. In addition, Hit the Spot Awards are given to honor outstanding work for single and/or new transit marketing projects.

Many public transportation agencies are financed primarily by tax revenue provided from a healthy economic environment and tourism. SWTA will support the transit agencies that comprise Valley Metro RPTA by holding our workshop in Tempe. We hope you are able to attend this vital workshop that will address great communication tactics to use during this time of upheaval and challenge for our industry.

Transit Management & Paratransit Management Course
10-day intensive training which has been tailored to the specific needs of the transit & paratransit industry. This program provides interaction among peers, intensive classroom study and practical application for transit and paratransit professionals in the SWTA region. The certificate program also qualifies as a prerequisite to the Certified Community Transit Manager (CCTM) certification exam of the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA). Transit Leadership Development 101 -
New Mexico – Fall 2009 (dates coming soon)

Cost: $445 per person (discounts given to groups of 4 or more)

This new 3-day Transit Leadership Development course is geared to new supervisors who need help figuring out how to avoid those beginner blunders and become a respected leader in the organization. Participants can expect to learn:

  • What really motivates people
  • Leadership Skills from the Inside – Out
  • Mentoring, Coaching and Team-building skills
  • How to supervise former peers and current friends
  • Project Management for big and small projects
  • How to deal with difficult people
  • Organizing the paperwork

    • This is not a general studies class. Each session will be taught by seasoned transit professionals who know and understand the inner workings of public transportation. Registration will begin January 5, 2009 and is limited to 23 class members. Certification will be provided by Alliant International University.
